Collaborative Family Law > Litigation & Other Services

Just because there’s a problem, it doesn’t automatically mean you have to give in or spend a lot on expensive litigation.  Seeking legal help doesn’t always mean going to court.  There are other choices that provide a better solution.

Advice is the first function of any lawyer.  We listen carefully to your problem, understand it, then advise.  Sometimes a letter or a brief exchange of letters with lawyers can succeed where you could not.  Perhaps a solution can come out of apparent deadlock because of a shift of view after receiving advice.  We will always try to reach a negotiated solution.

Mediation may work, especially when you bear in mind the potential cost of litigation.  We can refer you if appropriate to fully trained and accredited mediators, in both Family and civil disputes.

Collaborative methods are gathering ground quickly.  We offer the help of trained and accredited Collaborative practitioners and strongly believe that this method can resolve a lot of disputes more quickly and with less cost than through litigation.

Not all cases are suitable for Mediation or Collaborative methods.  Although it may be the last option, sometimes litigation is right.  Litigation has been joined by other options in the lawyer’s “toolbox” of methods. If need be, we will help you take your matter to the Courts for a decision.
